Orientation for Bihar MLAs to be held in Gaya from July 11

Patna: The state assembly will hold a two-day orientation programme for members of the 18th assembly from July 11 at the Bihar Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (BIPARD) campus in Gaya.Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar told TOI on Monday that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh and chief minister Samrat Chaudhary are expected to attend the inaugural function of the two-day programme.Trainers from the Lok Sabha institution, the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE), will brief the newly elected MLAs on different aspects of legislative work through separate training sessions.

Prem Kumar said all members of the assembly have been invited to take part in the orientation programme.On Monday, the Speaker chaired a high-level meeting with deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary and senior officials of the state govt and the assembly secretariat to review preparations for the event.Officials said detailed discussions were held on arrangements for the programme, which is being organised jointly by the Bihar Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, PRIDE and BIPARD.

Prem Kumar directed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements, including accommodation for participants and resource persons, protocol, security, food and vehicle parking for dignitaries and participants. Deputy CM Choudhary assured that the state govt would extend full cooperation for the programme. BIPARD director general B Rajender assured the Speaker that all arrangements would be completed on time through coordination with officials of the assembly secretariat.ADG (Law and Order) K Suhita Anupam, commissioner of Magadh division Safina A N, IG Vikas Vaibhav, Gaya district magistrate Shashank Shubhankar and senior officials of the assembly secretariat also attended the preparatory meeting.
