Minister for Industries and Food Processing T.G. Bharath Gupta on Wednesday said that Orvakal is poised to become a mega industrial centre, with a target of attracting investments worth ₹50,000 crore.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for Sri Mathre Foods Private Limited’s green food processing unit at Guttapadu MSME Park near Brahmanapalle at Orvakal mandal in Kurnool district, the Minister reiterated that the State government had laid extensive focus on creating the right environment for industries to expand in the Orvakal region.
The food processing unit is being set up with an investment of ₹10 crore and will process bananas, guavas, fruit pulp, and other farm produce sourced from local farmers.
Mr. Bharath Gupta said the government was galvanising infrastructure and ensuring basic facilities, including water supply, to attract industries to Orvakal. He urged the company management to complete the project within eight months and added that such units would help create jobs for local youth.
The Minister highlighted that Orvakal had strong potential for industrial growth across multiple sectors and pointed out that companies such as Reliance Industries had already established projects in the area. “Steady industrial investments in the State reflect the policies and leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,” Mr. Bharat Gupta said. The Minister added that food processing industries could provide better market opportunities for farmers by adding value to locally grown produce.
