CM Suvendu Adhikari speaks in the assembly on Tuesday CM Suvendu Adhikari during Assembly budget session

Kolkata: “Along with Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikaas, there will also be Sabka Hisaab. This is the motto of our govt,” CM Suvendu Adhikari said while speaking on the Governor’s budget session address in the Assembly on Tuesday.

He also indicated that former CM Mamata Banerjee’s political career was over. “You will never return. Your chapter is closed,” he said.During his 57-minute address, Adhikari listed alleged instances of corruption during the previous govt and said, “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. People have taught you (Trinamool) a lesson.”He displayed a piece of paper that he claimed bore Mamata’s signature and alleged Rs 324.7 crore was transferred to business chamber Ficci in the name of Bengal Global Business Summit and asked, “Can you give money like this?” Senior Ficci officials did not respond to TOI’s calls or text messages.Questioning the building of a place of worship with govt funds, Adhikari asked, “You can build a park, erect shelters for pilgrims, widen roads and arrange transport for pilgrimage. But can you build a temple using public money?”Citing alleged irregularities in welfare schemes like Lakshmir Bhandar, Ujjwala Yojana, old-age pension, Sikshashree, Medhashree, Tapashili Bandhu, Jai Johar, MNREGA and minority scholarship, the CM asked, “Whose money did you loot?”Stressing that “not a single thief will be spared,” Adhikari said a bill will be introduced in the current session allowing confiscation and auction of properties of those found guilty of corruption.

“In those mansions of Harish Mukherjee Road and Harish Chatterjee Street (Mamata and Abhishek live here), we will house people who spend their nights under flyovers and on the streets,” he said.Adhikari alleged that Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was the fountainhead of corruption in the previous govt.“In one month, our govt has earned revenue of Rs 83 crore from the stone quarries of Birbhum. It means in a year, govt can earn around Rs 1,200 crore.

The previous govt used to show annual revenue of only Rs 60 crore from this sector. It means the rest of the amount used to go to Dubai via Camac Street,” Adhikari said. He further alleged that Rs 10 crore was transferred to IPAC by a PHE contractor ahead of the election.“People have voted for us to uncover these corruptions. All of these will be accounted for,” he said.Adhikari asked Trinamool MLAs to recall how Mamata treated him in the past five years.

“You expelled me five times from the House. You kept me outside for 11 and a half months. A total of 102 cases were filed against me. Even after the HC and SC quashed them, I still had to declare 35 cases in my election affidavits,” he said.Pointing out that he had to go to court 104 times to get permission to hold political programmes, he said, “When the former CM said that she would sit at Rani Rashmoni, cops asked me what to do.

I said, ‘Give her permission to sit at Y Channel. Let her sit there as long as she wants. Hold rallies every day.’ But even then, you will never return. Your chapter is closed.”Questioning Mamata’s credentials as a mass leader, Adhikari pointed out that the Trinamool chief lost to him in Nandigram in 2021 and lost to him again in Bhowanipore in 202. “She lost in her own booth. Should we accept a person who loses in her own booth as a people’s leader? Today, she is not even present in this House.

She is sitting at home and listening to what I am saying,” he said.Pointing out that he had to go to court 104 times to get permission to hold political programmes, he said, “When the former CM said that she would sit at Rani Rashmoni, cops asked me what to do.
