Paris St Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembele was named FIFA men’s player of the year in Doha on Tuesday, while Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati won the women’s award for the third consecutive year.

Dembele played a crucial role in PSG’s first Champions League victory, where they defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. He scored 35 goals across all competitions last season, including 21 in Ligue 1, finishing as the top scorer. The 28-year-old, who also won the Ballon d’Or in September, was part of the PSG team that dominated domestically and reached the Club World Cup final.

Bonmati, recognised as the Champions League player of the season, claimed her third consecutive women’s Ballon d’Or this year. She helped Barcelona secure the domestic treble and reach the Champions League final. The 27-year-old also led Spain to the Euro 2025 final, where they lost to England on penalties, and was named Player of the Tournament.

Sarina Wiegman won the best women’s coach award for the fifth time after guiding England to retain their European Championship title, while Luis Enrique was honoured as the best men’s coach for leading PSG to their first Champions League victory.

The best women’s goalkeeper award went to England and Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who was pivotal in the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 win with her penalty shootout saves and also won the domestic treble with her club.

Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, currently with Manchester City, received the men’s keeper award for his contributions to PSG’s treble win.

Mexico’s Lizbeth Ovalle won the FIFA Marta Award for the best goal in women’s football with her scorpion kick for Tigres against Guadalajara in March.

Santiago Montiel received the Puskas Award for the best men’s goal with his overhead strike for Independiente against Independiente Rivadavia in an Argentine Primera match in May.
