Yamuna Authority conducted a draw to allot the plots to the owners at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida on Thursay
Noida: The demand for land around Noida International Airport has seen a surge with Yamuna Authority receiving 1,10,034 applications for 973 residential plots. On Thursday, the agency conducted a draw at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida to allot the plots to the owners.
Some of the plots were also reserved for farmers, ST/SC, the disabled, and industrialists having functional units near the airport.Yamuna Authority had announced the allotment drive in April. Applications were received from locals, professionals, investors and businesses. In addition to the 1,10,034 applications received, 140 applications were rejected for duplication and 23 applicants surrendered their applications. The draw was conducted in the presence of the allotment committee and three retired Allahabad High Court judges, who acted as observers. The process was also broadcast live on UP Doordarshan’s YouTube channel. The highest number of applications was received for 200 square metre (sqm) plots, with 57,620 applicants competing for 481 plots. This was followed by 162 sqm plots, which attracted 48,920 applications for 476 plots.
Four plots, each of 183 sqm and 184 sqm, received 566 and 539 applications, respectively. For the larger categories, six plots of 223 sqm drew 1,528 applications, while two plots of 290 sqm received 861 applications.
These plots are across Sectors 15-C, 18 and 24.As per the scheme, 100% of the total premium shall be paid within 60 days from the date of issue of the allotment letter. However, in certain circumstances, the time for making payment can be extended for a maximum period of 30 days. The allotment of plots shall be done on lease for a period of 90 years from the date of the lease deed. The last date of applications for the scheme was May 6.The demand for residential plots near the newly launched airport highlights the region’s rapid urban expansion following the commencement of commercial flight operations and cargo operations, which happened earlier this week. Officials said the demand for housing is expected to rise further in the coming months.Additional CEO of Yamuna Authority, Shailendra Bhatia, said, “The rise in demand for residential plots shows the area is becoming an economic and industrial hub. We plan to launch another residential scheme in the coming days to accommodate the demand,” he said. The land rate has also doubled in Yamuna city in the last 10 years. The allotment rate in the residential category was Rs 15,620 per sqm in 2016-17, which has increased to Rs 36,260 per sqm in 2026-27.Shivansh Pathak, the director of the real estate company Divyansh Group, said the overwhelming response to the residential plot scheme highlights a trend that extends beyond real estate demand. “Major infrastructure projects are increasingly influencing how cities expand and where people choose to invest. With over 1 lakh applications received for 973 plots, the interest around Noida International Airport reflects growing confidence in the region’s future economic potential rather than just immediate housing needs.
