Over 11,000 naval personnel and families join yoga day celebrations along Vizag coastline

VISAKHAPATNAM: As the sun rose over RK Beach in Vizag city on Saturday, June 21, personnel and families of the Sunrise Command (Eastern Naval Command), along with the citizens of Andhra Pradesh, came together in breath and spirit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in yoga, embracing the energy of the sea and sky.Offshore, warships swayed gently, with sailors in calm focus performing yoga on their decks, echoing the Navy’s commitment to Yoga for One Earth, One Health.Over 11,000 naval personnel and their family members from the Navy's Eastern Naval Command participated in the grand yoga celebrations in Vizag city, marking the International Day of Yoga on June 21.The naval personnel and their family members occupied around 10 enclosures along the scenic RK Beach stretch, forming an integral part of the historic gathering. In a parallel display at sea, yoga was performed by the uniformed personnel on board six Indian naval ships and two ships of the Indian Coast Guard anchored off Visakhapatnam. The impressive maritime lineup included frontline Eastern Fleet ships and two Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessels.The ships, silhouetted against the Visakhapatnam skyline, stood as powerful symbols of the Indian Navy's commitment to the national vision of yoga.The naval personnel joined in the yoga event from RK Beach to INS Kalinga (Bheemili) on the 26 km beach road stretch.

ENC joined in 'YogAndhra 2025', a landmark initiative spearheaded by the Union Ministry.There is an emotional link between the people in Vizag city and the Indian Navy. Vizag city has emerged as one of the most important cities in the country as the indigenously designed and built P15B stealth guided missile destroyer was named Indian Naval Ship INS Visakhapatnam, after the City of Destiny, Visakhapatnam. The Navy has been contributing to the growth of Vizag city in various aspects.
