Over 15 students fall ill after eating hostel food in Karnataka; water samples sent for testing

HUBBALLI: More than 15 students were taken ill after allegedly consuming food at a hostel in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district, officials said on Friday.The incident occurred at a hostel in Dandoti village, where several students complained of vomiting, stomach pain shortly after having their meal.The affected students were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Officials said all the students are being kept under observation.As part of the investigation, water samples from the hostel have been collected and sent to a laboratory for testing to determine whether contaminated drinking water or food caused the students to fall ill.Authorities are also examining the food served at the hostel and reviewing hygiene and sanitation conditions on the premises.The exact cause of the illness is yet to be ascertained.(With agency inputs)
