Marking the anniversary of the landmark NALSA v. Union of India judgment on Wednesday, over 200 transgender rights and social activists from across India have urged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for an immediate resolution in the State Assembly against the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026.
The signatories described the amendment as regressive and violative of the constitutional rights of lakhs of transgender and gender-diverse persons. The petition has been endorsed by members of the Transgender Welfare Board constituted by the Telangana government in 2022.
