More than 7,100 pending traffic violation cases, including drunk driving, minor driving and mobile phone usage while driving, were disposed of through a special Lok Adalat drive conducted by Hyderabad Traffic Police between June 8 and June 20.

According to traffic police officials, a total of 7,161 cases were settled during the period as part of an effort to reduce pendency and ensure quicker resolution of traffic-related offences.

Drunk driving cases accounted for the largest share of disposals, with 3,804 cases settled through the Lok Adalat. Another 1,245 cases related to driving licence violations were disposed of, while 1,042 cases involving minor driving were cleared during the exercise.

The Lok Adalat also disposed of 381 cases of motorists using mobile phones while driving and 689 cases involving other categories of traffic violations.

The disposal of more than 7,000 cases also offers a snapshot of recurring traffic violations in the city. Drunk driving alone accounted for more than half of all cases disposed of during the special drive, followed by driving licence violations and instances of minors operating vehicles.
