California-headquartered GPU and AI architecture company OXMIQ Labs, which has a development site in Hyderabad, has raised $35 million in Series A financing taking the total fund raised to $60 million.
The funding will scale the company’s licensable GPU architecture that allows semiconductor companies and AI system builders to build custom AI silicon without a full chip programme.
OXMIQ founder and CEO Raja Koduri, who is a well known graphics processing unit (GPU) architect, said “AI is a force for good when it is a tool everyone can pick up and use, not just the few who can afford to build with it.”
State-of-the-art AI reaches most people through a handful of channels now with the cost of the compute underneath the reason. “Bring that cost down, and you widen who gets to build with it. Closing this round with investors who own the supply chain tells us we can get there,” he said in a press release on the funding announcement.
The round was co-led by Fundomo and Samsung Catalyst Fund, with participation from MediaTek, AM Intelligence Labs, Pegatron Venture Capital, CDIB-TEN, Darwin Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital, among other financial and strategic investors.
