"Imran Khan promised the nation that he would not leave through any ‘deal’, and he is keeping that promise," said his sister Aleema

Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, slammed the administration over the incarceration of her brother and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief.

“Imran Khan is a patriotic leader with firm faith in Allah. He has been in prison for two-and-a-half years; he promised the nation that he would not leave through any ‘deal’, and he is keeping that promise," said Aleema.

“It is essential for the Pakistani nation to stand up for themselves because Imran Khan is sitting in jail for them…A student, Najam, was picked up merely for mentioning the name of the PTI founder…Women were pushed and shoved; if this is what is happening to us, what must be the plight of the common people," asked Aleema.

“SHO Ayaz swore an oath to Shahid Khattak, promising that if we avoided the Cantt route, they would release Najam. I told Shahid Khattak that they are lying, because lying is a part of their job. I was the one who told Najam to chant the slogan, and I feel deep pain over this," said Aleema.

“I even told the police to release Najam because he is just a child and a student, and to arrest me in his place instead…SHO Ayaz signaled a policeman named Saqib, who pounced on Najam with animalistic brutality. They weren’t attacking us directly, but in that scuffle, my sister and Seemabia were shoved to the ground…I don’t know why they behave like animals whether it’s considered part of their job or if they’ve been told this is the way to get a promotion," said Aleema.

Chief Minister of Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Sohail Afridi, on Thursday strongly condemned the “continued solitary confinement" of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. Afridi said that the restrictions on the meetings with PTI leader Khan were “inhumane and unjust".

Khan, 73, has been incarcerated since August 2023, when he was arrested for the first time. Multiple cases have been registered against Khan after his government was toppled in April 2022. The military-backed Shehbaz Sharif government, early last month, had imposed a complete ban on Khan’s all kinds of jail meetings following his statement against Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir. Khan, after meeting with his sister in jail on December 4, called Munir “a mentally unstable person" in a post on X.
