Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Qatar on Thursday to express solidarity with the Gulf nation following an Israeli airstrike in Doha that targeted senior Hamas leaders.
The visit comes two days after the unprecedented strike on Qatari soil, which killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. The attack has drawn international condemnation.
In a post on X, Sharif wrote, “I visited Doha today to express Pakistan’s strong solidarity and support with my dear brother the Amir, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the resilient brotherly people of Qatar after Israel’s heinous attack on Doha on Sept 9."

“Pakistan has strongly condemned this blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. I assured HH the Amir that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with Qatar in this grave hour," he added.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office earlier today, the visit was a “gesture of solidarity and regional unity" following the Israeli airstrike, which they described as “cowardly" and targeted at residential areas in Doha.
Pakistan PM was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a press statement, the Foreign Office said the visit reflects Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s sovereignty and its broader commitment to peace and stability in the West Asia region.
On September 9 (Tuesday), Israel carried out an airstrike in Doha targeting Hamas officials reportedly staying in the Qatari capital. The attack killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. Hamas said its top leaders survived the strike.
Qatar has played a key role as a mediator in Israel-Hamas negotiations and has hosted Hamas’s political office since 2012 with Washington’s backing.
The rare strike on a US-aligned Gulf country has escalated regional tensions and raised concerns about wider instability in the region.
