Pakistan’s former Chief of Army Staff, General (Retd.) Qamar Javed Bajwa, has been re-admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi after his health reportedly deteriorated, according to sources close to the family.

Sources say the former Army Chief’s condition has remained unstable despite extensive medical care, prompting doctors to conduct further advanced medical tests and examinations.

General Bajwa had sustained head and back injuries after a fall at his residence in February this year. He was admitted to a military hospital following the incident and was discharged in the last week of March after undergoing treatment.

However, sources indicate that his condition failed to stabilise in the months that followed, leading to his fresh admission to CMH Rawalpindi for further evaluation and treatment.

Bajwa served as the 10th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Army from November 2016 until his retirement in November 2022.

CNN-News18 has learned that doctors are closely monitoring his condition, while further medical examinations are currently underway. An official statement from the Pakistan military or the Bajwa family is still awaited.

HAD TAKEN ILL IN MARCH

According to information attributed to sources familiar with the development, Bajwa reportedly suffered a fall at his Rawalpindi residence after a possible fainting episode believed to be associated with a cardiac condition.

akistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had described the incident as a domestic accident, stating that the retired General either slipped or fainted due to a reported third-degree atrioventricular (AV) heart block.

Following the fall, Bajwa was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where he reportedly underwent medical evaluation and treatment, including possible pacemaker support.

By early March 2026, unverified reports suggested that Bajwa developed a severe brain haemorrhage believed to be linked to the earlier head trauma.

According to these claims, the complication allegedly resulted in disorientation, memory loss and an inability to recognise family members, including close relatives.
