AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said on Monday (March 9, 2026) that the DMK regime was marked by “murder everywhere, always,” rather than such incidents being infrequent and sporadic.
In a social media post, Mr. Palaniswami referred to reports of the murder of a senior citizen and the sexual assault on the deceased’s wife in Krishnagiri; the murder of two persons in Tirusoolam near Chennai; and that of a farmer in Sankarankovil of Tenkasi district. “What a horrible situation for senior citizens who do not feel secure even in their homes! Has the puppet Chief Minister [M.K. Stalin], who is responsible for all these events, ever spoken in the last five years about law and order?” Mr. Palaniswami wondered.
He asked the Chief Minister to take stringent action against those responsible for the crimes.
Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, meanwhile, criticised the DMK government over an incident of alleged sexual harassment of a seven-year-old girl child in Namakkal, which took place amid Women’s Day celebrations. When there was “no safety” for the women in general in the State, be it in their homes or outside, it was a “shame” on the part of the Chief Minister to advertise himself as a custodian of women, he said.
