Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president B.K. Hariprasad on Tuesday said that for greater coordination between the State government and the party, a political committee and an implementation committee will be set up. Boards and corporation nominations will be be done shortly, he added.
“There is a process and the list will go to AICC. A decision will be taken after discussing with them. We cannot keep everyone happy. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have given the list. Some more names are awaited,” Mr. Hariprasad said after the KPCC general body meeting here..
To a question on admitting leaders with RSS and BJP background into the party, he said, “There are no untouchables in politics. We will admit those who realise the folly of that party and agree to our party, ideology and leadership. The decision on the future of such leaders will be taken by the party.” He denied that the party had ignored loyal party workers.
A workshop will be held to assess party’s strength in 84 Assembly constituencies where Congress candidates have lost, he said, adding that Mr. Siddaramaiah and former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily had suggested holding training programmes at district and taluk levels to understand communal forces that would help the party face them better.
“There has been a suggestion for district Congress committee that are older than 10 years to be replaced. Within two months changes will be effected. Other suggestions included that caste should not become the basis of transfers in bureaucracy since ours is a secular government,” he added.
As per the resolution of the AICC executive committee in 2024, party in charge from other States should travel for seven days and visit every blocks to recommend a minimum of two and a maximum of six names after which the district committee president is selected, he pointed out.
