Smoke emanating from the pantry car of the Alappuzha-Dhanbad Express during the journey caused panic among passengers on Monday (August 25, 2025). The smoke was noticed around 6.15 a.m. when the train reached Mararikulam in Alappuzha, Kerala.
The train was halted for inspection and railway officials later said the smoke was caused by brake binding.
“The issue was resolved and the train resumed its journey after a 20-minute delay,” an official said.
