A 19-year-old Serbian tourist lost her life in Montenegro after she unbuckled her harness during a parasailing activity, plunging more than 160 feet into the Adriatic Sea. The incident took place on 28 May in the coastal town of Budva.

The young woman, identified as Tijana Radonjic, was reportedly offered a free parasailing ride as part of a promotional shoot organised by a water sports agency.

According to the owner of the water sports agency, Radonjic showed no signs of fear before take-off and had completed a basic safety training session, New York Post reported citing local media.

“We are all in shock after the accident that happened. I do not know exactly what happened," Mirko Krdzic said.

“She did not show any fear of flying. She underwent training after which the tragedy followed. Technical inspections of all the equipment are underway and the results of the autopsy are awaited," he added.

Chilling video footage of the incident, now circulating on social media, shows Radonjic visibly distressed and in a state of panic as she struggles to remove her safety equipment.

In the video, Radonjic is seen frantically pulling at her life jacket and unclipping her seat harness. Within moments, she manages to unfasten her waist buckle and is seen struggling to free herself before falling upside down from the parasail.

Eyewitnesses said they heard the teenager shouting “put me down" before she detached herself. Her lifeless body was later recovered from the sea by emergency teams.

Some reports have suggested that she may have experienced a panic attack while in the air, which led to her desperate attempt to escape the harness.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether there were any lapses in safety protocols.
