Panipuri seller held with 650 grams of opium in Vijayawada

The Patamata police arrested a panipuri seller, Mukesh of Rajasthan, and seized 650 grams of opium from his possession on Thursday (July 9, 2026).

Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by Circle Inspector V. Pavan Kishore raided and arrested Mukesh near Bharati Nagar, and seized the opium, packed in two packets in a polythene bag. The accused, who runs his business from a pushcart on High Tension Road was allegedly selling opium, the CI said.

A case under Sections 8(c) read with 18(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, has been registered, and the investigation is on, Mr. Pavan Kishore said.
