Papamochani Ekadashi 2026: Significance

Papamochani Ekadashi holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. This day is considered as the most sacred day to perform puja to Lord Vishnu.

People utilise this day for spiritual purification and cleansing their mind, body and soul by keeping themselves away from all the tamasik activities. They first start observing the fast and then try to cleanse their thoughts by not talking ill about others, cleanse their body by maintaining celibacy during the day and night, cleanse their soul by not keeping any bad thoughts about anyone.

1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. 2. Clean your house and puja room. 3. Wear clean and fresh clothes and place an altar. 4. You should first place an idol of Lord Vishnu along with shree yantra, a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. 5. Light a diya with desi ghee and invoke the idol by chanting various mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu. 6. You should recite Vishnu sahasranama and Ekadashi katha. 7 Offer garland, home made sweets and bhog prasad. 8. Recite aarti and then conclude the puja. 9. The day is considered extremely auspicious to perform charitable deeds. 10. One must feed one brahmin on this day or if they can't then at least feed the needy ones. This will help you remove all your bad karma, which you might have committed in the past or current birth.
