Parents File Complaint Against Teacher for Allegedly Beating Student Over Instant Noodles in Lunch Box

Dhanbad: Parents of a Class 2 student in a private school here lodged a formal complaint with the district education officer (DEO) and the child welfare committee (CWC), accusing one of the teachers of beating the child for allegedly bringing a particular brand of instant noodles in his lunch box.

The school authorities were not available for comments on the issue.The boy’s mother said the class teacher allegedly beat her son repeatedly on his head for bringing instant noodles in his lunch box, saying the school has prohibited the item. She further claimed that the teacher humiliated the child by imposing unreasonable conditions, like asking her son to submit a written application each time he wanted to bring the noodles in his tiffin.Alleging that the teacher also did not allow her son to go to the toilet during class hours, the mother said she raised the issue and requested that her son be allowed to use the toilet whenever necessary during a parent-teacher meeting. However, the teacher allegedly asked her to produce a medical certificate to permit her request, she said, claiming that the school management supported the teacher. Later, the school also allegedly denied issuing his admit card for the upcoming examination, she said.

“My son is repeatedly complaining of being beaten and stopped from even using the toilet. It is a violation of the child’s right to education and dignity. But the school, instead of protecting him, is punishing us further by not issuing his admit card,” she alleged.On Tuesday, the mother visited the district education department along with her son and submitted a written complaint against the school, claiming that the child was physically and mentally harassed.District education officer Abhishek Jha received the complaint and assured action would be taken if the matter was found true. He transferred the matter to the district superintendent of education (DSE) for further proceedings.The case is also forwarded to the CWC, and further investigation is expected in the coming days.The boy’s mother said the class teacher allegedly beat her son repeatedly on his head for bringing instant noodles in his lunch box, saying the school has prohibited the item.
