Protesting a steep fee hike, reported lack of transparency, declining academic standards and poor facilities at Hyderabad Public School (HPS), parents of the students have announced a ‘fee strike’. They have refused to pay the first-term fee until the management guarantees there will be no fee hike for the next five years.
The parents held a demonstration at HPS-Ramanthapur, with support from parents of wards from HPS-Begumpet on Friday. They said the fee hike was excessive and unilateral. According to the parents’ committee, fees have risen by nearly 141% over four years, from ₹83,630 in 2021 to over ₹2,01,628 in 2025.
