Both Houses of Parliament are scheduled to continue discussion on the Union Budget 2026-26 on Wednesday (February 11, 2026).

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will not preside over the business of the House until the Opposition’s notice for a motion seeking his removal is disposed of, sources said on Tuesday (February 10, 2026), citing “moral grounds” for the decision. Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday (Februrary 10, 2026) said “very ugly scenes” could have taken place had the BJP MPs been allowed to confront the Congress members on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha. 

The Lok Sabha has been witnessing disruptions since February 2, after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was disallowed by the chair from quoting from an article based on excerpts of former Army chief M.M. Naravane’s “unpublished memoir”, which has references to the India-China conflict of 2020.
