Prominent businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in Patna, Bihar, six years after his son, Gunjan Khemka, was killed in a similar manner.

The unidentified assailants opened fire on Khemka, owner of Magadh Hospital, just as he stepped out of his car near an apartment close to his residence, Panache Hotel, in the posh Gandhi Maidan area.

Claiming police apathy, Khemka's brother, Shankar, said that officers arrived at the scene nearly three hours after the shooting. According to him, his brother - who was also a director of the Bankipore Club - was driving back home. As he stepped out of his car at 11:40 pm, the assailants opened fire on him. Shankar further claimed that it was not until 2:30 am that the police reached the scene.
