The Kansas City Chiefs' offseason has been anything but quiet. The news has mostly been about roster changes, trade rumors, and injury updates. But in the middle of all the confusion, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems surprisingly calm. While his team makes big decisions behind the scenes, the two-time MVP has been taking time off from football to recover and spend time with family and friends.Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes were recently seen having fun at a friend's wedding in Texas. Photos shared online showed the couple smiling and talking to guests at the party. Fans quickly took notice of the pictures, not just because of the parties but also because they showed how Mahomes was recovering from a serious knee injury that ended his 2025 season.
Patrick Mahomes’ recovery showing encouraging signs
Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL in Week 15 during a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The injury needed surgery right away and kept the quarterback out for the rest of the season. But recent reports say that his recovery may be going faster than expected.
NFL insider Jay Glazer discussed the situation while appearing on The Dan Patrick Show, explaining why Mahomes’ recovery could progress quicker than typical ACL timelines.“His pain threshold is different, his work ethic is different,” Glazer said on the podcast.
“So at first they were like, ‘Oh, you know, start of the season.’ I would probably hedge on him being [back] sooner than that. By far. Because he just attacks things.”Glazer also pointed out that Mahomes moved quickly after the injury, which may have helped accelerate the healing process.“The initial reports were kind of on the fringe there, but I want to tell you, Patrick’s different,” Glazer said. “He got the surgery before it swelled up.
So that was on a Tuesday. I believe it was either Thursday or Friday that week he was already in the Chiefs’ training room doing rehab.”Even more impressive was how rapidly Mahomes began regaining mobility.“He had already got his knee bending at 90 degrees at that point. He’s just different. He heals differently.”While Mahomes focuses on rehabilitation, the Chiefs continue reshaping their roster. The team recently traded All Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie and made several cap related moves to create flexibility heading into the new season.Another storyline hovering over Kansas City involves the future of veteran tight end Travis Kelce. Retirement speculation has intensified following the team’s disappointing 6–11 finish, though some observers believe Kelce could return for another season. For now, Mahomes appears focused on one goal. Getting healthy and preparing to lead Kansas City back into contention once the next season begins.
