The stage was set at Levi's Stadium for Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026, as the New England Patriots took on the Seattle Seahawks in a matchup that had fans and analysts buzzing long before kickoff.
Both teams came into the game with impressive seasons with the Patriots rebounding from a four-win year and finishing 14-3, and the Seahawks also posting a 14-3 regular-season record. But when the first half was complete and the Bad Bunny halftime show was about to begin, one team stood clearly in front.
Seahawks rush ahead by halftime
Defence was the theme of the opening half in this rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, with both offences struggling to sustain drives.
However, it was the Seahawks who managed to put points on the board while keeping the Patriots scoreless. By the time the halftime whistle sounded, Seattle held a 9-0 lead over New England. All nine points came from three field goals by Seahawks kicker Jason Myers, who calmly converted from varying distances after Seattle’s defence gave his offence good field position.
The Patriots, led by second-year quarterback Drake Maye had trouble finding rhythm.
Maye was sacked multiple times in the first half, and New England’s offence was held to limited yardage, forcing punts on nearly all their possessions. Meanwhile, the Seahawks’ defence dominated the line of scrimmage, keeping the Pats out of scoring range throughout.Seattle’s lead going into the halftime break reflected both tactical discipline and efficiency in the kicking game. With their ground game showing flashes especially from running back Kenneth Walker III Seattle was able to move into scoring territory repeatedly, even if it couldn’t reach the end zone before the break.
What the halftime lead meant
Going into the Bad Bunny halftime show, the Seahawks’ 9-0 advantage offered a clear narrative: defence first. Historically, teams trailing at halftime and especially teams shut out in the first half have struggled to win the Super Bowl. According to broadcasters, no team ever suppressed scoreless at halftime has come back to lift the Lombardi Trophy.
For the Patriots faithful, the halftime score was a worrying sign of offensive struggles, but there was still plenty of game left when fans returned from the spectacular halftime performance that fused music and culture. Meanwhile, Seattle’s supporters could savor the moment as their team led heading into one of the most anticipated parts of Super Bowl Sunday, the show that paused the nation and entertained millions worldwide.
