Patwari caught taking Rs 10,000 bribe for land mutation in Sagar

Bhopal: A patwari posted in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district was caught red-handed by Lokayukta police Thursday while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 bribe to process a land mutation case.Manvendra Singh Thakur, posted as patwari of Halka No 34, Bamhori Ghat, under Jaisinagar tehsil, was caught at Tili Tiraha on Ganeshpuram Road in Sagar.Lokayukta officials said complainant Bhagwan Das Solanki of Sagar approached the anti-corruption agency after the patwari allegedly demanded money to process mutation of agricultural land purchased by his daughter-in-law.The complainant’s daughter-in-law had bought 1.4 hectares of land in village Kankar Kuiya under Jaisinagar tehsil.

The mutation application was pending at Tehsildar office, Jaisinagar. Since village Kankar Kuiya falls under Bamhori Ghat Halka jurisdiction, the matter was being handled by Thakur.Solanki alleged the patwari demanded Rs 10,000 to complete mutation process. He subsequently submitted written complaint to Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Sagar.After verifying allegations, Lokayukta team laid trap on June 12 and Thakur was caught accepting bribe amount.
