PD Act invoked against rowdy-sheeter ‘involved’ in woman’s murder case

The Rajanna Sircilla district Police on Friday invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against rowdy-sheeter B. Manoj, an accused in several cases including the murder of a woman reported in Chandurthi police station limits.

According to the police, a rowdy-sheet was opened against Manoj in 2024. He is an accused in a case of murder of a woman over a land dispute in 2023.

The PD Act was invoked against Manoj by the designated authorities after noticing that his ‘criminal activities’ were posing a threat to the maintenance of public order, police said. He was detained under the PD Act on Friday.

He was subsequently shifted to Cherlapalli Central Prison in Hyderabad by a police team headed by Chandurthi Circle Inspector of Police Venkateshwarlu.
