To draw attention to the worsening air pollution in the national capital, Congress MP from Peddapalli Gaddam Vamsi Krishna arrived in Parliament on an electric bike designed and built by him. The gesture was aimed at underscoring the need to adopt eco-friendly modes of transport.

Stating that vehicular emissions are a major contributor to Delhi’s growing air pollution, the MP said wider use of electric vehicles could significantly cut carbon emissions and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. He said public representatives should lead by example and called upon citizens to take an active role in environmental protection.

By riding a self-made electric bike to Parliament, Mr. Vamsi Krishna also highlighted the importance of promoting indigenous technology, innovation and the technical skills of the youth. His initiative has generated discussion among political circles and the public.
