A 49-year-old labourer died after being knocked down by a speeding motorcycle while crossing a road near the entrance arch of Peddatupra village in Shamshabad on Monday (July 6, 2026) night.
The deceased was identified as D. Srinivas, a resident of Peddatupra village in Shamshabad mandal, Rangareddy district.
According to the Shamshabad police, the accident was reported around 10.05 p.m. on July 6 near the Chakali Ailamma statue at the village entrance arch. Srinivas had attended a dinner function hosted by a relative and had walked towards the village arch before attempting to cross the road to return to the venue.
The police said a motorcycle travelling from Thimmapur towards Maheswaram rammed Srinivas while he was crossing the road. The rider was travelling at high speed and in a negligent manner. The impact threw Srinivas onto the road, leaving him with severe head, abdominal and leg injuries.
Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Shamshabad, from where he was referred to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment. However, doctors declared him dead at 1.34 a.m. on Tuesday.
The police identified the motorcycle rider as Banuri Vijay, also known as Sambha, a 28-year-old private employee from Muchinthal village in Shamshabad mandal.
A case has been registered against the rider, and further investigation is underway.
