Barcelona’s midfield engine has hit yet another bump in the road — much to the Catalans’ dismay.

Pedri is set to miss around a month after suffering a right hamstring injury, the Spanish champions confirmed on Thursday.

The 23-year-old was forced off after 61 minutes of Wednesday’s 4–2 Champions League comeback win at Slavia Prague, with Barcelona locked at 2–2 at the time.

Tests carried out the following morning confirmed a muscular injury, ruling him out until at least mid-February.

“Tests taken this morning have confirmed that first-team player Pedri has a muscular injury in his right hamstring," Barcelona said in a statement. “The recovery time will be one month."

Pedri has been a central figure in Hansi Flick’s side, starting 24 of Barcelona’s 29 wins across all competitions this season and scoring four goals.

The injury also reignites long-standing concerns over Pedri’s durability, with the midfielder’s relentless workload for both club and country continuing to take its toll.

He will miss Barcelona’s final Champions League league-phase clash against Copenhagen, along with La Liga fixtures versus Real Oviedo, Elche, Girona and Mallorca.

Should Barça progress past Albacete in the Copa del Rey on February 3, Pedri would also be sidelined for the first leg of the semi-finals.

Head coach Hansi Flick admitted the blow immediately after the Slavia win.

“It’s not good news," Flick said. “I don’t know exactly what he has yet, but it’s the hamstring. Sometimes these things happen."

Despite the injury, Barcelona’s victory in Prague lifted them to ninth in the Champions League standings, level on 13 points with seven other teams as the battle for a top-eight finish — and automatic round-of-16 qualification — intensifies.
