Amid growing tensions within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Sunday responded to the criticism from his own party, which accused him of neglecting Punjab’s concerns in Parliament.

In a post on X, Chadha rejected the allegations, asserting his deep connection to the state and outlining the issues he has raised as a parliamentarian. These included demands for a corridor to Nankana Sahib, legal backing for farmers’ Minimum Support Price (MSP), concerns over depleting groundwater in the state and a call to confer the Bharat Ratna on Bhagat Singh.

Rift Deepens As AAP Accuses Chadha Of Ignoring Punjab Issues

The MP’s reaction comes after Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, state unit chief Aman Arora and leader Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, in a joint statement released on Saturday, expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as Chadha’s silence on pressing issues. Cheema said that despite being elected by Punjab MLAs, Chadha failed to raise critical matters affecting the state at the national level. The Minister added that the MP did not raise “even a single sensitive issue" related to the state, PTI reported.

The row intensified after Chadha was removed from the party’s deputy leader position in the Rajya Sabha earlier this week. Following the move, he accused the leadership of attempting to suppress his voice. In response, several party leaders criticised him sharply, alleging he had been “compromised" and was fearful of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Responding to these claims, Chadha described the allegations as part of a deliberate effort to target him and dismissed accusations that he avoided parliamentary protests or refused to back an impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner.

“Since yesterday, a scripted campaign has been going on against me. Same language, same words, same allegations. This is no coincidence, but a coordinated attack. At first, I thought I shouldn’t respond. Then I thought that if a lie is repeated 100 times, some people might believe it. So, I decided to respond," he said.
