Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal called DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin a “liar” and accused him of being “anti-women” during an interaction with reporters in Udhagamandalam on Saturday.

Speaking on the Constitution Amendment Bill to implement reservation for women in legislatures being defeated, he said the INDIA bloc, including the DMK, “do not want to give women, my sisters, the daughters of India, their rightful share and participation in defining and deciding the destiny of India,” he said. The government was ready to bring in an amendment that would increase the number of seats in proportion to the current structure, but Mr. Stalin was “spreading a false narrative.”
