Piyush Goyal Interview Live: Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is set to speak to CNN-News18 in an exclusive interview, where he will shed light on India’s landmark GST reforms and the geopolitical situation today due to US President Donald Trump’s steep tariffs.

Goyal will speak about the centre’s GST Diwali Bonanza for the Indian middle class, US tariffs, India’s GDP growth, and more in a conversation with News18 Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi.

His interview comes after big GST cuts were approved by the GST Council, led by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on Wednesday. Effective September 22, the system will be simplified into just two main slabs of 5% and 18%, replacing the current 12% and 28% rates, with a special 40% slab for luxury and sin goods.

Goyal will also address the strain in ties between India and the United States after Trump imposed 50% tariffs on Indian imports due to the country’s purchase of Russian oil, which is expected to impact India’s exports. He had earlier stressed that India would not work under pressure to close agreements in haste.
