Planting for the second season in the Nilgiris was inaugurated at the Government Botanical Garden in Udhagamandalam on Tuesday by the Nilgiris Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru.

In a press release, the district administration said the second season in the Nilgiris usually began in September of each year. They said more than 60 varieties of flowering plants, including marigolds, asters, verbenas, pansies, lilies, calendulas, helichrysums, and other plants, sourced from nurseries in Kolkata, Kashmir, Punjab and Pune, would be on display during the second season.

More than 5 lakh flowering plants, including 15,000 potted plants such as salvias, daisies, delphiniums and dahlias would also be exhibited to the public, the Horticulture Department stated. They added that they expected around three lakh tourists to visit the Nilgiris during September and October of this year.
