Plea before Kerala HC by KSU worker accused of attacking former Health Minister Veena George withdrawn

A petition filed before the Kerala High Court by Kerala Students Union (KSU) worker Athul M.C., one of the accused in the alleged attack on former Health Minister Veena George, was withdrawn on Monday (June 29, 2026).

The plea sought to dismiss the FIR registered in the alleged attempt by a group of protesters to attack Ms. George at Kannur Railway Station in February. The petitioner requested withdrawal since the FIR had been amended to exclude the offence of “attempt to murder” in the course of the investigation. Besides, the government is considering a request by the accused for a Special Investigation Team to probe the alleged crime. 

The petition alleged that Ms. George had not been attacked and that the accused were only protesting outside the railway station.
