In a decisive operation, the Bihar STF, alongside Nawada police, captured Ajeet Kumar, a known associate of the PLFI, in Dhelwa village. The coordinated effort, prompted by credible intelligence, led to the recovery of an impressive cache of weapons, including an AK-47 and multiple rifles accompanied by ammunition.
Patna: The Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Nawada police arrested an active member of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) during a joint operation conducted late Thursday night.
The raiding team also seized a cache of sophisticated weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, two 315-bore rifles and ammunition.The operation was carried out in Dhelwa village under the Rajauli police station area based on a tip-off received by Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman.The arrested accused was identified as Ajeet Kumar (31), a resident of Dilwa village in Rajauli. According to the STF, he was operating a network involved in extortion and violent activities targeting contractors and construction workers in the region.
Dhiman said, “An SIT was formed under the leadership of sub-divisional police officer Gulshan Kumar, which included the station in-charge and STF personnel.”The team conducted a raid based on precise information on March 12 in Delwa village.Acting on the information provided by the arrested accused, police recovered one AK-47 rifle, two 315-bore rifles, two AK-47 magazines, 21 AK-47 cartridges and 10 additional cartridges for the 315-bore rifles.
The weapons were hidden under a mango tree near his house.Police also seized three sets of camouflage uniforms, resembling army uniforms.During interrogation, the accused admitted that he used weapons to intimidate contractors and extort levy in association with his organisation. With police pressure increasing in the region, he had hidden the weapons underground.
