The TVK alleged that attempts were being made to destabilise the Vijay-led government.

The TVK MLA alleged that he was offered Rs 35 crore to vote in a particular manner during the proposed motion.
At least three people have been arrested in Chennai in connection with an alleged attempt to bribe and threaten a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA to topple C Joseph Vijay’s government in Tamil Nadu.
According to the police, the arrests were made following a complaint filed by TVK Uthangarai MLA N Elaiyaraja, who alleged that he was offered Rs 35 crore over the phone to vote in favour of a proposed no-confidence motion against the Speaker in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
What Did The TVK MLA Allege?
In his complaint, Elaiyaraja alleged that one of the accused, Thirunavukkarasu, introduced himself as being associated with a political organisation and claimed that a no-confidence motion against the Speaker would soon be brought in the Assembly.
The TVK MLA alleged that he was offered Rs 35 crore to vote in a particular manner during the proposed motion. According to the complaint, when he refused the offer, the accused allegedly threatened to harm him and his family.
Accused’s Alleged DMK Links
Police sources said one of the arrested persons is allegedly linked to DMK leader Senthil Balaji. The DMK leader’s brother V Ashok Kumar allegedly met accused Naresh in Chennai.
TVK Alleges Conspiracy
Reacting to the arrests, the TVK alleged that attempts were being made to destabilise the Vijay-led government. In a statement, the party claimed political opponents had tried to prevent TVK from forming the government and were now attempting to weaken it through alleged horse-trading.
TVK further alleged that intermediaries had attempted to offer crores of rupees to one of its MLAs and said the arrests had exposed what it described as a conspiracy against the government.
TN Minister Targets DMK
Tamil Nadu Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar accused the DMK of attempting to poach TVK legislators. He claimed that for the past 40 days, leaders associated with the DMK had approached TVK MLAs with cash offers in an attempt to secure support for a no-confidence motion against the Speaker.
“Senthil Balaji, acting on the orders of Stalin and Udhayanidhi, has approached our MLAs, offering up to ₹50 crore. They have been attempting to horse-trade with our members for the past 40 days. Discussions have taken place regarding who should pay whom and how much money is involved. Stalin and Udhayanidhi are engaging in despicable, low-level tactics," Kumar said.
