PM Modi In Bengal Today: Rs 18,880 Crore PM-Kisan Payout, Infra Projects, Yoga Day Events On Agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in West Bengal on Saturday for a two-day visit, during which he is scheduled to participate in a series of events in Hooghly and Kolkata.

Ahead of his visit, the Prime Minister extended greetings on the occasion of Paschimbanga Divas.

“This day celebrates a state that has profoundly shaped India’s history through its contributions to diverse areas be it literature, music, art, spirituality, science, trade and commerce, social reform and more. Time and again, West Bengal has enriched India’s national consciousness in countless ways," he said.

Development Projects and PM-KISAN Release in Tarakeswar

Prime Minister Modi is expected to reach Tarakeswar in Hooghly district at around 3:30 pm. From there, he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development and railway projects, besides launching government welfare initiatives aimed at farmers.

He will also release the 23rd instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, under which funds will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of nearly 100 million farmers across the country.

Around five million farmers in West Bengal are among the beneficiaries and will receive ₹2,000 each from Saturday. Overall, more than ₹18,880 crore will be transferred to over 94.4 million farmers nationwide with a single click from the Tarakeswar event. Of these, over 4.535 million farmers in West Bengal are expected to receive nearly ₹907 crore.

The Prime Minister will stay overnight at Lok Bhavan following Saturday’s programmes.

Yoga Day Event and Port Programme in Kolkata

On Sunday morning, PM Modi will participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations at Red Road in Kolkata. Later, he will attend a special programme at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Garden Reach.

On the eve of his visit, the Prime Minister shared details of his itinerary in a post on X.

“Over the next two days, June 20 and 21, I will participate in various programmes in West Bengal. June 20 is particularly significant as we celebrate West Bengal Day. The event will be held in Tarakeswar, Hooghly district. The place holds historical importance because of its association with Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and his efforts to preserve West Bengal’s cultural heritage."

He added that several development projects would be launched from Tarakeswar and that the 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN would be released from there, benefiting countless hardworking farmers across India.

“It is a matter of great satisfaction that several major agricultural initiatives of the Central Government will also be launched tomorrow. These include the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, the National Mission on Natural Farming, and the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana. These initiatives will benefit the hardworking farmers of West Bengal."

Regarding the events scheduled for June 21, he said, “An International Yoga Day programme will be organised in Kolkata. I am delighted that Kolkata is hosting this event. After participating in the Yoga Day programme, I will attend another event where three indigenously designed warships will be commissioned. These are INS Dunagiri, INS Sandhayak and INS Agray. These vessels will further strengthen our security and reflect our commitment to self-reliance in the defence sector."

The Prime Minister shared these details through his post on X ahead of his visit to the state.

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh spoke about the International Yoga Day celebrations scheduled to be held in Kolkata.

“Yoga is being followed in 200 countries around the world. The Bengal government didn’t accept it, therefore, the people removed that government. PM Modi is coming to Bengal to lead the Yoga Day celebrations. PM Modi is leading Bengal’s development too. He is an ambassador of Yoga," Ghosh said.
