Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dera Sach Khand Ballan for Ravidas Jayanti, interact with Sant Niranjan Dass.
Ravidas Jayanti holds deep significance for millions of people across India, symbolising equality, devotion and social harmony.
On the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti on February 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dera Sach Khand Ballan in Punjab, where he is scheduled to interact with Sant Niranjan Dass.
Sant Niranjan Dass Ji was recently honoured with the Padma Shri for his contributions, and the upcoming interaction marks another chapter in his long-standing engagement with the Prime Minister. Glimpses from their earlier meetings reflect a relationship rooted in shared respect for the teachings of Guru Ravidas, whose philosophy continues to inspire social reform and spiritual unity.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Modi had also marked Ravidas Jayanti in 2019 in Varanasi, popularly known as Kashi, in the august presence of Sant Niranjan Dass Ji. That event underscored the Prime Minister’s emphasis on honouring India’s spiritual heritage and the message of inclusivity championed by Guru Ravidas.
Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate key infrastructure projects and participate in programmes marking the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas, according to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
He will unveil Adampuri airport’s new name, Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport and will also inaugurate the terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana district.
The PIB release noted that the newly inaugurated terminal at Halwara Airport will serve as a major new gateway for Punjab, catering to Ludhiana and its surrounding industrial and agricultural regions. Halwara is also home to a strategically important Indian Air Force station.
The earlier airport at Ludhiana had a relatively short runway, limiting operations to smaller aircraft. To enhance regional connectivity and accommodate larger planes, a new civil enclave has been developed at Halwara with a longer runway capable of handling A320-type aircraft.
The new terminal building incorporates multiple green and energy-efficient features, including LED lighting, insulated roofing, rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and the use of recycled water for landscaping. Its architectural design draws inspiration from Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, offering passengers a distinctly regional travel experience while promoting sustainable infrastructure development.
PM Modi will visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar district to take part in a public programme held in honour of Guru Ravidas. His schedule includes offering floral tributes to Sant Guru Ravidas and Sant Sarwan Dass, the second Gaddi-Nashin of Dera Sachkhand Ballan. The Prime Minister will also participate in the Parikrama ritual and attend an Ardas ceremony.
