Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, focusing on strengthening cooperation across key areas of partnership between the two countries.
The prime pinister shared that the talks were “very fruitful" in a post on X, saying both sides discussed ways to further deepen bilateral ties through collaboration in trade, investments, circular economy, defence and information technology.
“The talks with Chancellor Merz were very fruitful. We discussed ways to further cement bilateral cooperation by working together in trade, investments, circular economy, defence, IT and more," PM Modi wrote.

The prime minister also said that cultural linkages between India and Germany were part of the discussions.
“We also talked about boosting cultural linkages between our nations," he noted.
The interaction took place shortly after the Prime Minister addressed the G7 outreach summit, where he called for stronger global support systems to help developing countries deal with economic and social shocks.
