Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Japan and China later this month for high-level engagements, including the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit in Tokyo and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, Ministry of External Affairs announced Friday.
In Japan, from August 29–30, Modi will hold his first summit with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, where the two leaders will review the Special Strategic and Global Partnership covering defence, trade, technology, innovation, and people-to-people ties, along with regional and global issues.
PM Modi will then travel to Tianjin, China, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping to attend the SCO Summit from August 31 to September 1. On the sidelines, he is expected to hold bilateral meetings with other leaders.
India has been a member of the SCO since 2017 and held its presidency in 2022–23.
