At the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed the spotlight firmly on India’s internal capabilities as the foundation of its global rise.
Addressing policymakers, industry leaders, diplomats, and cultural ambassadors from around the world, the Prime Minister anchored the summit’s central theme, ‘Strength Within’, describing it as both a civilisational principle and a contemporary policy approach.
Drawing on traditional thought, he reflected that the strength a nation seeks from outside must first be recognised internally. Over the past 11 years, he noted, India has moved beyond a lingering mindset of dependency and self-doubt. In its place, he presented a new India—one that no longer seeks validation but shapes global conversations through performance and policy.
The Prime Minister highlighted economic reforms, manufacturing growth, inflation control, and the banking sector as pillars of this renewed momentum. Initiatives such as Make in India, the expansion of digital public infrastructure, and direct benefit transfers demonstrate how systemic reforms have translated into scale and delivery. He underscored global interest in India’s Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile framework and the unprecedented scale of direct financial transfers to beneficiaries.
Infrastructure and technology were central to the address. From rapid growth in solar capacity to the expansion of Metro rail networks and the rollout of Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat trains, he highlighted the accelerated development of these frontiers. He emphasised that India, once primarily a consumer of emerging technologies, is now actively shaping global standards, particularly in artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
He cited the recent AI Summit in New Delhi, attended by over 100 countries, as evidence of India’s evolving global stature. India, he affirmed, is no longer a peripheral player in technological revolutions but a contributor influencing direction and dialogue.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the importance of long-term vision, particularly the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He outlined measures to reduce import dependency in sectors such as energy, fertilisers, shipping, and critical technologies, including semiconductors and green hydrogen, steps intended to secure economic resilience for generations to come.
In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Modi called for a collective commitment to excellence across institutions and industries. Nation-building, he said, demands foresight, sincerity of intent, and the discipline to translate capability into measurable progress.
