PMC approves 14 proposals to upgrade city infrastructure

Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) empowered standing committee on Saturday approved 14 proposals, including the fixation of monthly rents for shops in Kadamkuan vending zone and installation of 35 high-mast lights across the city.The decisions were taken at the 24th ordinary meeting of the committee, chaired by mayor Sita Sahu. Under the new proposal, vendors operating from Kadamkuan vending zone will pay monthly rent ranging from Rs1,000 to Rs1,500, depending on the size of the allotted space. The rates will come into effect after approval from the municipal corporation council meeting.The committee also approved the installation of 35 high-mast lights at an estimated cost of over Rs6 crore. The project will be implemented through an agreement with Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Civic officials said the move is aimed at improving illumination in public spaces.In another decision, the committee cleared a proposal for the construction of a vending zone and a marriage hall on municipal land at Musallahpur Haat in ward no. 50. Approval was also granted for the procurement of handcarts for all PMC circles to strengthen solid waste management operations and for the purchase of five pump sets of different capacities for the Nutan Rajdhani circle ahead of the monsoon season.

PMC commissioner Yaspal Meena and other officials were also present at the meeting. Officials said the decisions taken on Saturday were aimed at strengthening civic services, improving urban infrastructure and creating organised public spaces across the city.
