During a recent field visit, Patna's Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena took a close look at various nala projects, pressing for the immediate development of micro-plans to accelerate work hindered by encroachments.
Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner and managing director of Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL), Yashpal Meena, inspected the Kurji Nala, Bakerganj Nala and Rajvanshi Nagar pump houses on Wednesday to monitor construction progress and coordination.Meena ordered officials to submit individual micro-plans for 11 identified locations where work has stalled due to narrow passages and encroachments.The Bakerganj Nala project involves converting 1,463 metres of open drain into a concrete box drain between Uma Cinema and Anta Ghat. Project data shows 60% of the work has been completed, while 200 metres of road and drain construction work still remain to be done.Meena asked the officials to form a joint team from PSCL and Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited to submit daily progress reports and directed the deployment of additional labour to clear silt and debris before the monsoon.At the Kurji Nala site, the commissioner directed the officials that desilted waste should be removed within 24 hours and anti-larva spraying must follow. Meena also ordered the immediate completion of demolition of old Rajvanshi Nagar pump house demolition and the disposal of resulting debris.
During the inspection, the commissioner directed withholding of salaries of officers responsible for delays in the demolition process. Technical and administrative officials from the Nutan Rajdhani and Patliputra circles accompanied the commissioner during the site visits.
