An eight-member Disciplinary Action Committee of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) constituted by party founder S. Ramadoss went into various incidents that marred the reputation of the party and submitted its report to him.

Disclosing this at the special general council meeting held at Pattanur near Puducherry on Sunday, the party’s honorary president G.K. Mani said the committee highlighted 16 charges against the founder’s son Anbumani.

This included his inappropriate behaviour at the party’s general council in December last year where he had thrown the mic on the table causing a virtual flutter. The other charges against Mr. Anbumani included an attempt to cause a split in the party and issuing directives party district secretaries not to attend the meeting convened by Mr Ramadoss at Thailapuram., Mr. Mani said.

The social media handles were also misused to make derogatory remarks against Mr. Ramadoss and all these were only intended to cause chaos and confusion in the party. The planting of a bugging device at the founder’s residence at Thailapuram was yet another incident that caused damage to the organisation.

The general council meeting convened by Mr. Anbumani at Panayur as a rival meeting to cause a division and confusion among the rank and file was also another charge levelled against him.

The committee also highlighted that partymen were prevented from visiting Thailapuram and offered incentives. The other incidents included Mr. Anbumani taking a unilateral decision to go on a padayatra across the State, defaming the party founder at the general council convened at Panayur and the side-lining of Mr Ramadoss in Makkal TV.

Addressing the general council meeting, Mr. Ramadoss said he was fully aware of what the partymen wanted him to do with regard to forming an alliance in the 2026 elections and he would measure up to their expectation in the larger interest of the party. “I am a doctor and I know what is in your hearts and minds regarding alliance. It will be a good alliance,” he said.

Mr. Ramadoss said the 10.5% internal reservation for Vanniyars in education and employment announced by the previous AIADMK government should be reintroduced (it was quashed by the Supreme Court).

“The Tamil Nadu Government can give the reservation in a week’s time but it is refusing. I had met the Chief Minister M.K Stalin at the Secretariat and had even virtually taken a class for nearly 30 minutes to convince him on the necessity of reservation,” he said.

The youth were waiting for implementation of 10.5 % reservation and the PMK would continue with its protests, he added.
