The Joint Awami Action Committee’s long march and protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir entered the fourth day, with fresh clashes reported between demonstrators and Pakistan security forces, sources told CNN-News18.

The protests, which began over demands linked to rights, representation and basic services, have now spread across several parts of PoK, with Rawalakot witnessing fresh violence overnight.

Crackdown Intensifies, Arrests Cross 1,000

According to sources, shelling and clashes continued for the fourth consecutive day, leaving several people injured. Pakistan security forces have intensified their crackdown on demonstrators, with the number of arrests crossing 1,000 after at least 100 more people were detained in the latest sweep.

Internet Blackout, Shortages Hit PoK

The situation has worsened because of a prolonged internet and mobile services blackout, which has now continued for around 10 days in several areas. Locals said the shutdown has paralysed communication, blocked access to emergency services and deepened shortages of medicines and food.

Road blockades have also hit the movement of critical supplies. Sources said several PoK areas are facing severe medicine and food shortages as supplies remain disrupted. Locals accused Pakistan of using trade and essential supplies as a pressure tactic to force protestors into accepting a deal.

Diaspora Protests Spread Abroad

The crackdown has also triggered protests by Kashmiri diaspora groups abroad, with demonstrations reported outside Pakistan’s diplomatic missions in the United Kingdom and the United States.

Sources said protesters gathered outside the Pakistani High Commission in London and the Pakistani Consulate in New York, accusing Islamabad of using excessive force, mass arrests and communication blackouts to crush the movement in PoK.

In the UK, nearly 50 MPs have also reportedly written to the British government, seeking diplomatic intervention over the situation in PoK. The lawmakers raised concerns over civilian casualties, arrests and the digital blackout in the region.

Diaspora groups have echoed the demands of the JAAC and called for international intervention, even as protests and shutdowns continue inside PoK.

‘No Compromise On Movement’

The Joint Awami Action Committee, however, has said it will not step back from the movement. “No compromise on the movement," JAAC leaders said, adding that they were ready to sacrifice their lives if their demands were not met.

The group has defended what it called “temporary" sit-ins in Rawalakot and said the protests remain peaceful. “We have burned our boats," JAAC leaders said, warning Pakistan’s authorities against ignoring the demands of the people.

The JAAC has also appealed for international intervention, saying the crackdown and communication shutdown have created a humanitarian crisis in PoK.

Long March To Muzaffarabad To Continue

Locals have also claimed that a Rangers personnel was captured by people in PoK during the clashes. There was no official confirmation of the claim.

The protestors have vowed to continue their long march towards Muzaffarabad, even as Pakistan security forces attempt to block movement and disperse crowds.

Sources said the temporary dispersal of large groups in some areas was aimed at avoiding further violence, but the JAAC has maintained that the movement will continue until “final victory".
