Police arrest two wanted men in separate cases

Nashik: The crime branch unit two arrested two wanted individuals on Friday and Saturday in connection with separate cases registered at the Upnagar and Indiranagar police stations respectively.In the first case, officials arrested a burglar who was on the run for four years. The suspect, identified as Danish Khan, was wanted in a housebreaking and theft case registered in 2022.As he remained untraceable, police filed a chargesheet against him under Section 299 of the CrPC, which allows evidence to be recorded in the absence of an absconding accused.On Friday, ASI Manohar Shinde and head constable Chandrakant Gawali received information that Khan was near Raza Classic Apartment, near Aisha Masjid.

Police then laid a trap and arrested him. The accused confessed to the 2022 burglary during interrogation.In the second case, the unit apprehended Ashok Mohite (38), wanted for defrauding a businessman. On Oct 15 last year, Mohite rented 325 iron centring plates worth Rs5 lakh for a construction project for six months from the complainant. However, he failed to return the plates or pay the rental amount to the businessman.

He eventually went missing, prompting the businessman to lodge a formal case at the Indiranagar police station.Acting on a precise tip-off received by PSI Sanjay Sanap, the team learnt that Mohite was near a square in Beldarwadi, Mhasrul. Under the guidance of unit 2 in-charge asssistant police inspector (API) Hemant Todkar, police raided and arrested Mohite.They recovered 200 iron shuttering plates worth Rs3 lakh from his possession on Saturday. The accused and the recovered material were handed over to the Indiranagar police station for further proceedings.
