Police bust drug rackets, seize narcotics worth ₹5.7 crore; 11 arrested

The police have busted multiple drug trafficking networks across the city over the past week, arresting 11 persons, including nine from other States, and seizing narcotic substances with an estimated open market value of ₹5.70 crore.

The coordinated operations were carried out by teams from the Vidyaranyapura, Jeevan Bimanagar, Devanahalli and Hebbagodi Police Stations following specific intelligence about the sale of banned narcotic substances within their jurisdictions.

Based on credible information, the police registered separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and conducted raids at identified locations, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to procuring narcotic substances from unidentified suppliers in Karnataka and other States at lower prices and selling them at a premium to the general public, including college students.

The police seized 2 kg of MDMA, 1.767 kg of hydroponic ganja (hydro ganja), and 32.920 kg of ganja, besides ₹5.90 lakh in cash, two iPhones and a two-wheeler. The seized narcotics are valued at ₹2.85 crore, with an estimated illicit market value of ₹5.70 crore.

Officials said efforts are under way to identify and arrest the suppliers. All 11 accused were produced before the jurisdictional courts on different dates and remanded in judicial custody.
