Chittoor police on Monday conducted extensive cordon-and-search operations across the district, targeting illegal liquor, unauthorised vehicles, suspicious movement, and the sale of banned tobacco products near educational institutions. The search was part of an enforcement drive aimed at crime prevention, drug control, and student safety.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi said that the operation involved the coordinated deployment of officers and staff across the limits of 30 police stations. Surveillance was intensified in sensitive locations, including remote and forest areas, with drones deployed at select points to monitor movement and deter illicit activity.
The SP said the drive focused on curbing narcotics trafficking, illegal brewing, unlicensed transport, and other anti-social activities. As part of the operation, eight two-wheelers without valid documents were seized at Rasanapalli in Gudipala mandal. At Kotarivedu village in Karvetinagaram mandal, police destroyed 250 litres of jaggery wash used for brewing illicit liquor, while five litres of ID arrack were seized at Erramatti village in Penumuru mandal.
In a seperate enforcement exercise in Chittoor town, police launched a cordon-and-search operation against the sale of banned tobacco products near schools, in line with tobacco control regulations. The drive was supervised by Additional SP (Operations and in-charge Administration) S.R. Rajashekar Raju, with police teams from Chittoor I and II Town stations deploying four special squads.
