The Basar police have cracked the recent temple theft case by arresting three persons and recovering stolen silver crown and ornament weighing around 1.48 kg on Thursday.
The theft of the silver ornaments and ₹16,000 cash from the hundi of a sub-temple on the premises of the Gnana Saraswati temple in Basar on June 22 created a flutter in the temple town.
The Basar police achieved a breakthrough in the case with the arrest of two main accused and their alleged accomplice at the Basar railway station on Thursday.
Police identified the arrested trio as Pallapu Yedukondalu of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, G. Kiran alias Ramakrishna of Nizamabad and K. Anand, an alleged receiver of the stolen booty, from Maharashtra.
According to the police, Yedukondalu and Kiran were involved in multiple cases of theft and other property offences.
